If your order says Telephone activation, this guide takes you from checking the installed edition to the final activation. You do not need to clean the whole installation by default; use that section only when the PC already has another Office installation or an older activation that is getting in the way.
Before you start
In Office, Visio or Project open File → Account and confirm that the installed product matches your purchase: year, edition and architecture.
If Office is installed together with Visio or Project, keep them on compatible architecture: 32-bit with 32-bit or 64-bit with 64-bit.
If the edition is correct and the PC is clean, go straight to the activation section.
If the PC had another installation
An older installation can leave behind a key, a different edition or an activation setting that causes a conflict.
- Close Word, Excel, Project, Visio and the other Office apps.
- Uninstall only the edition that is actually conflicting.
- Restart the PC.
- If you need to inspect registered activations, open an administrator console from the folder that contains
ospp.vbsand runcscript ospp.vbs /dstatus.
The result shows detected installations and the last characters of their keys.
Do not remove keys blindly. If you identify an older key that really needs to be removed, use only its last five characters with cscript ospp.vbs /unpkey:XXXXX, then run /dstatus again.
Install the exact edition from your order
Professional Plus, Home & Business, Visio Professional and Project Professional are not interchangeable just because they share the same year. Install the exact edition shown in your purchase.
For multi-device orders, install it separately on each PC.
Enter the key and open telephone activation
- Enter the key delivered by Sovengrid.
- Choose telephone activation when the activation assistant offers it.
- Copy the complete Installation ID in the same order shown on screen.
Each PC generates its own Installation ID. Do not reuse one ID for another computer.
Get the Confirmation ID from your order
Open your Sovengrid order and use the telephone activation tool available for that purchase.
Enter the Installation ID exactly as shown. When the request is valid, you will receive the Confirmation ID for that PC.
Keep your key private. Do not post it in screenshots, public chats or forms outside your order.
Finish activation
Return to the Office, Visio or Project activation assistant and enter the Confirmation ID in the requested blocks.
When finished, open File → Account again and confirm that the product is activated.
If something does not match
Before repeating the process, check the edition, the complete Installation ID, and that the key and activation tool belong to the same order.
If telephone activation is not offered, the Installation ID is rejected or the edition does not match, open Support from your order. Do not reinstall repeatedly or try the key on other PCs while the case is being checked.
